the art of love

one of my favorite dudes in the whole universe is Heraclitus. He was a damn good philosopher and even though he hated mostly everybody, he said some pretty cool things, like this one:

'τοις εγρηγορόσιν ίνα και κοινον κόσμον είναι, των δέ κοιμωμενων εκαστον είς ίδιον άποστρέφεσθαι'

which roughly translates to: for those who are awake there is one common world, but among those who are asleep, each one turns to their own little world.

Today it hit me: love wakes you up! If you want to experience love, you need to wake up and live in the common world.

My own little world, is just not exciting enough anymore.

  1. I love the quote :)

I did read the wikipedia entry and yes I do think that he is a very interesting person

I do believe that love is about recognising that there is more than your little personal world... and that there are other worlds you want to join in

    I loved your post :)

  2. Yeap... fair enough...

and I will refer to my self as a strange new world from now on

I will pretend to be this shining new star that star farers always dreamed of exploring but never had the courage to do so...

and you will be the valiant explorer who boldly dared to go where no woman had gone before!

I can envisage you weariing a space suit... a very tight space suit that is... and holding a laser gun as well :)

  3. oh, i like it! perfect except for the laser gun.. i would prefer a lightsaber, and of course i wouldn't actually use it on anybody, unless it was for self defense, or if anything was to harm the planet :)

  4. Ok the light saber is fine by me...

But if you'll have a lightsaber I want one too (even though I am a planet and I am not supposed to have a light saber)

I wonder if the lightsaber can be used for cooking purposes... such as cutting vegetables and stuff?

  5. i'm guessing it will cut and cook at the same time. We could make thin crispy salty eggplants in no time, and pretend they are actual fries!
